CNC 1340 Turning Center

CNC Masters 1340 CNC Lathe

The CNC Lathe that instantly converts back to all its original manual modes

This CNC Lathe will instantly revert back to its manual capabilities eliminating the need to write a CNC program for short runs. Its advanced CNC capabilities can turn any complex turning application into a simple one that can be programmed and executed accurately many times over on production runs.

Improving production is critical to business growth and survival for companies limited on time and budgets. Having a turn-key solution that keeps the machining applications "in-house" instead of outsourcing and waiting for a turn-around time is critical for the growth of any company looking to get ahead of their competition while maintaining a high level of quality and keeping cost low. Most machinists love the idea of having the LOOK and FEEL of a manual lathe with CNC on it especially if it's turn-key, easy to learn, use, and most importantly they can begin turning their parts the same day the Lathe arrives at their shop. CNC Masters introduces its own brand of CNC lathe technology. The unique design of a conventional manual lathe with the power of automation technology through CNC allows any user to quickly machine their applications without advanced CNC training. Now the entrepeuner can turn his own prototypes in-house without having to give away his product idea to another shop. Now R & D lab scientists and engineers do not have to "wait" for their parts to complete their designs. Novices completely new to the lathe machine have the ability of manually learning the machine's ability while slowly easing into CNC mode of operation. Now the one-man machine shop overwhelmed with a thousand chamfering applications in his limited space can use the CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe to create a small toolpath program to drive the X and Z axes many times over with the click of the pc mouse.

The CNC MASTERS 1340 CNC Lathe is a Gear Head Bench Top mid-size turning center made for primary or secondary CNC machining applications. This 1340 lathe is intended for the user needing the ability and performance of a true CNC working lathe without taking up floor space like larger, expensive CNC machines which require highly skilled trained CNC machinists and service techinicians to tune and maintain the machine for you. The CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe is a great purchase for small machine shops, research institutions, colleges, universities, high schools, engineers who need to quickly prototype their parts, and one-man operations who need to turn hundreds of the same single part in their home garage-turned-shop. This 1340 CNC Lathe machine makes a great investment tool for business owners who would rather save money by turning/facing their own parts instead of outsourcing the order out. Because of its size, the CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe can fit in areas where space is limited, yet can machine just about any application within 13” on the swing or 8" over the cross slide, and 35.25” on the carriage travel.

THE CNC MASTERS 1340 CNC Lathe Turning Center IS TESTED FOR QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE IN-HOUSE IN IRWINDALE, CA USA.

The CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe Features

  • Works on 32 bit operating systems: WINDOWS 7, VISTA, or XP on USB.
  • Powerful size 34 Z-axis micro-stepper motor within 1500 in/oz of torque to drive the carriage, and X-axis micro-stepper motor within 600 in/oz of torque to drive the cross slide. Stronger torque coupled with micro-stepping motion allows the CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe to perform accurately without losing steps.
  • The minimum possible motion is .0001” with a minimum speed of 0.5” per minute. The maximum speed is 100” per minute on your Rapid Settings with ramp down effect to keep the machine from jerking.
  • Full 2 Axis coordinated motion control on bipolar motors--far superior over unipolar technology when it comes to torque and power. True Interpolation.
  • Standard hand-wheels on each axis for manual option machining with axis motor disengage feature to retain full manual control as on a standard manual 1340 lathe.
  • X & Z Axes Zero Backlash Ball Screws with pre-loaded ball nuts to eliminate play on the cross slide and carriage travel, and provides precision machining. These custom-made precision ball screws allow for precision turning, facing, chamfering, threading, and even milling and grinding operations. Ball screws are covered from flying swarf.
  • X & Z Direct Drives--no timing belts to adjust. This results in smoother operations and ensures accuracy unlike pulley and belt drive methods which can cause the belt to buckle causing inaccurate results. This unique design of direct drive keeps the user from having the need to change the belt or adjust as it wears down.
  • Computer Controlled Variable Spindle Speed, save time without having to change gears and program your spindle's speed in the Master Software through G-codes, simple english conversational commands, or on/off with your PC mouse.
  • Encoder installed at the spindle for true positioning and computer control, making internal and external threading applications easy on CNC without needing to mechanically change gears and manually change levers on the lathe.
  • Home Reference Sensors on the X & Z which saves your home/zero position as the first line of your program. This feature allows you to quickly return to the home position on any program without having to manually zero your two axes again.
  • Limit Switches on both extreme ends of each axis allowing you to confidently test your program without having to worry about an axis travel to its end and causing extreme damage to the machine.
  • Run your tool path from any line on your program
  • Easy to Use Jogging Features and Feed Control by pc mouse or keyboard
  • Jog-Input Command automatically writes each line of your toolpath as you manually jog each axis by pc mouse, keyboard, or the optional hand held remote control joystick to save as a program for repeat use.

The CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe Master Software

The CNC MASTERS Control Unit is controlled by the user friendly MASTER software, which runs on any IBM-AT compatible computer with at least 500Mhz and Windows VISTA or XP (min 32 bit on both systems). It communicates with the CNC Control Unit through USB port the standard in computer communication. The MASTER software features a main windows panel interface that will allow the novice user to easily control the program and the machining of parts.

The Master software runs standard G-code files from other CAD-CAM software such as SmartCam, SurfCam, etc. The Master software also features its own programming language. It uses plain English conversational words, like “Move, Absolute, Incremental, Repeat, Rapid, Feed, Spindle on, etc.,” which are all self explanatory. These commands are conveniently picked from the pull-down menu and placed on the main screen editor ready for the user to complete. You can easily build a file of commands to turn a simple application without the need to learn or use a CAD-CAM program!

The ability of the MASTER software to run and repeat “subprograms” with a single command line is a very powerful feature that will save the user considerable manual input and easily program custom “canned cycles” such as inserting a series of grooves spaced every .5" along a 30" long round-stock that can be written with just a few lines. Verifying a new program can be easily done with the “trace” facility. In this mode you can step a program one line at a time and check the XYZ position counters, which serves as your DRO, against the blueprint of the part, or you can activate the “Draw file” command to see a graphic display of your file before you machine the part.

The Master software comes with the Guide for Lathe Cycles allowing the user to quickly create programs without the use of a CAD-CAM software. The user can input values for threading, turning, boring, and facing cycle applications. With one click of the Add button, the Master will write three lines of G-codes for each cycle.

Other Master Software Features

  • Relative driving of any precise distance with one click +/- on the chosen axis
  • Beep End Program--a beeping sound from the computer to notify the user that the job is done
  • Return to Zero --recounts its steps back to your Zero position on either or both axes.
  • Saved Home Positioning--never lose your Zero position again when machining the same part
  • Intuitive Interface with axis jog buttons placed in the viewpoint of the cutter to avoid confusion of direction
  • Operational Tech Support by email or phone during normal business hours for as long as your company owns the CNC Lathe. This beats waiting for answers on forums from other end users.

With the included G-CODES FILE INTERPRETER, the MASTER software can run files generated by many advanced CAM software packages, like VisualTurn which works converts drawings from any CAD software on standard file extensions such as .dwg, .dxf, .iges, .stl, and .step Or, use others like MASTERCAM, SURFCAM, RHINO, ARTCAM etc. All you need to do is setup your post-processor to match the CNC MASTERS 1340 Lathe and you will be able to machine the most complex surface program that your machining requires. The maximum file size will be controlled by the storage space available on the hard drive of the host computer. With the MASTER editor you can create, edit, load, or mix G-codes with the MASTER conversational command language.

The Master Software supports these standard G-Codes and M-codes:
